Hi All and Happy 2008!!!
We had such a fabulous time over the holidays. My parents stayed with us for about 10 days and they left in time to go to Arizona to watch Oklahoma play a rough game in the Fiesta Bowl. Cariana's first Christmas was so much fun! We all went down to Santa Cruz to visit Grandma & Grandpa Stout the weekend before Christmas. They spoil her too much! She started making what we call the "lion" face where she scrunches up her nose and breathes really hard out of it, it's SO funny. I got a picture here for you :) She also had solid foods for the first time! They haven't really agreed with her too much...kinda plugging her up if you know what I mean. (Sorry for TMI.) We've done the rice cereal, carrots, and squash. It's so fun to watch her reaction to each new taste! Santa Cruz was a blast, we stayed there thru Christmas Eve and then headed home to Roseville so we could wake up in our new home on Christmas morning. The not-so-fun part was that I was really sick, strep throat that turned into a yucky cold for 2 weeks, on Christmas day....where I proceeded to pass it along to everyone in my family, including Cariana and my Yia Yia (Greek for grandma.) I'm better now, but they are still fighting off the cough. Anyway...Cariana is stocked up on winter clothes & toys & games from everyone! Thank you all so much for spoiling this kid rotten! I'm excited for my cousin Jorgi to have her baby in June so next year at Christmas they will get all the gifts since Cariana won't be the "baby" anymore! :)
Our third Christmas celebration was at our house with my mom's side of the family. We had so much fun! My cousin Maenette came to town with her two girls, Caylee & Caiya, all the way from Ohio. Her sister Megan flew in from Ohio as well. My uncle Eric & his wife Ruth came up from Merced, as well as my uncle Alec and his three boys Alec Jr., Michael, & Ian. My aunt Ingrid and uncle Basil drove down from Seattle with their two kids Mikala & Triffon. And my uncles Nels & Fla drove up from LA. It was the first time in a long time we've had our entire family together to celebrate Christmas! Even some of the Anton family came to join us as well.
Our New Year's Eve was very simple...a quiet night at home with Seth, my Mary Kay friends Cat & Layle, and one of my neighbors, Heather. (It was great to have her over, I am loving getting to know her better! She has a baby girl named Gabriella who was born 3 weeks after Cariana!) Anyhow, we watched a movie, drank champagne, and watched the ball drop. Is this what we're supposed to do now that we're parents? No more $100 per ticket parties in SF that turn out to be a bust anyway?!
Today is a huge winter storm in the Sacramento area. The winds have been 50-60 mph and the rain is non-stop. There is a stream in the greenbelt area behind our house that looks like a lake!!! Our neighbors pool is about to overflow, other neighbors have tiles coming loose off their homes (which are brand new!), and our Christmas Tree that we had put outside in front of our house is completely MIA!!! It is crazy here.
On a sad note, I would really appreciate if you would keep our friends K.T. & Brandon Martin & their 10 month old baby girl Madeline in your prayers. They live about 30 minutes from Chico in a small town called Corning. They lost their home this morning due to the storm. A large oak tree fell on the house, completely destroying the front part of it, and barely missing hitting K.T. while she was sitting on the couch. Thankfully they are all okay - but emotionally just sad to lose their home. The damage is too extensive to try to repair it, since it is an older home, so they will be looking for a new place to live. Please pray for their family as they will be needing it!
Enjoy the holiday photos below...and stay dry out there!
